Photograph and Media Policy

Truganina Lions Football Club is committed to protecting the privacy, safety, and digital security of all members, spectators, and participants.

As per guidelines set out by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), formal consent is generally not required for Truganina Lions FC to collect images of identifiable individuals unless the image records sensitive personal information.

However, anyone taking photographs or recording video on behalf of Truganina Lions FC must take reasonable steps to ensure affected individuals are aware of the following:

• Identity & Contact: Who is capturing the media and how to contact the club.
• Collection Details: How, when, and from where the images or videos are being collected.
• Legal Basis: If the collection of images is required or authorised by law or governing bodies.
• Intended Purpose: Exactly what the images are being taken for (e.g., website highlights, social media, marketing).
• Consequences: Any impact on the individual if their image is not collected.
• Third-Party Sharing: Any other organisations or individuals with whom the club usually shares media (e.g., Football Victoria).
• Access & Removal: How individuals can access the media or request its removal later.
• Overseas Distribution: Whether images are likely to be accessible on global digital platforms or servers.

Generally speaking, individuals are sensitive to photographs and video of themselves being published, particularly online. As best practice, Truganina Lions FC strives to seek express consent whenever practical, informing individuals in clear detail about how their image will be used and where it will be displayed.

🛡️ Photography of Children & Minors

In accordance with Football Australia and Football Victoria Child Safe Standards, images of players under the age of 18 will only be published where appropriate parental/guardian consent has been obtained during registration. Parents and guardians retain the right to withdraw photo consent or request the immediate removal of any media featuring their child by contacting the club executive at info@truganinalionsfc.com.
